My Top 4 E.L.F Studio Brushes

Only costing three dollars a piece, the E.L.F. studio brushes all have black, sleek packaging. The synthetic bristles are very soft and dense. After washing them, the brushes go back to their original shape and never shed. Needless to say, this line of brushes has blown my socks off! Out of these four brushes, I couldn't pick one that I liked more than another one because they are all unique in their own way. So, here are my top four favorite ones from the line! :)

1. Small Stipple Brush

As I mentioned in my previous blog post, I would definitely recommend this brush for applying under eye concealer. Just dip the brush into the product and start to stipple it onto your under eyes. Keep stippling and then blend it in with your fingers. It works like a dream! This method is cake-free guaranteed.

2. Eye Shadow "C" Brush

This brush's density makes it AMAZING for packing on shadow! I also use the top of the brush to apply color in the inner corner or under the brow bone; it works perfectly! Personally, I have multiples of the "C" brush in my collection because I use it so often. You really can't go wrong with this one!

3. Blush Brush

This brush is not only great for sweeping blush onto your cheeks, but its tapered bristles also allow it to double up as a great bronzer brush. Just turn it to the side, as shown in the picture on the right. It's also great for traveling because you can multitask with it!

4. Powder Brush

Yes, I know you've probably heard about this one a bajillion times! I promise that there is a reason for it. I love the air brushed look that I get after I use this brush with my liquid foundation. I also use this with my powder and cream blush; it always looks amazing! This one is great to have in your collection!

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to leave a comment below! Thanks for reading! :)

May Favorites!

1. Using my E.L.F. Studio Small Stipple Brush to apply my Benefit Erase Paste

I am NEVER going back to the old way that I used to apply my under eye concealer! Purchasing this brush a few months ago has made applying my under eye concealer so much easier! It also keeps me from tugging at my delicate under eye area so much. I just tap the brush into the pot of concealer and start to stipple it onto my under eyes. Then, I keep stippling and then blend it in with my fingers. The process is cake-free guaranteed. I love it!

2. Neutrogena Beach Defense Water + Sun Barrier Spray SPF 70 Sunscreen

It's that time of year where sunscreen is a must have! I've been wearing this SO much during the recent super hot days here in California! The spray makes it so easy and quick to apply. The cap locks when you twist it, making it travel friendly. I also love that it has such a high SPF! How much better can a sunscreen get?

3. NYX Single Eye Shadows
The awards this month go to... (drum roll please!)

Antique Gold

Asphalt

Iced Mocha

and Volcano

These are swatces without any primer. left to right: Iced Mocha, Antique Gold, Volcano, Asphalt

A beauty supply store in my local mall was having a sale on some of these shades. Me being the NYX eye shadow fiend that I am, I had to go out and purchase as many as I possibly could! I came up with many looks using these four shades. However, these are the two looks that I have been wearing the most!

Iced Mocha, Antique Gold, Volcano
Because Antique Gold has the weakest pigmentation of the bunch, I used the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Lime after I applied my ELF eyelid primer. It helped so much!

1. Apply an eyelid primer.
2. Use a colored base on top of your primer (preferably, the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Lime).
3. Apply Antique Gold all over the lid.
4. Apply Iced Mocha in your inner corner.
5. Apply Volcano in your crease and in your outer v.
6. Blend it using wind shield wiper motions.

On to the second look!

Asphalt and Volcano

1. Apply an eyelid primer.
2. Apply Asphalt all over the lid.
3. Apply Volcano in the crease and outer v.
4. (You guessed it) Blend it with wind shield wiper motions.

Not impressed, Bath and Body Works

Bath and Body Works claims that "this miniature must-have contains natural ingredients and powerful germ killers that keep hands fresh and clean on-the-go!"

Pro's:
- available in a COUNTLESS number of scents
- cute packaging
- the scent always lingers

Con's:
- overpriced (Your only getting one fluid ounce. Their original price of $1.75 is pushing it. Even when they have the 5 for $5 deal, it's still pushing it. You can buy a huge bottle of Purel for a dollar!)
- leaves the skin feeling sticky and gross. I always end up feeling like I should have just washed my hands instead (this is a HUGE turn off for me).
- I feel like the whole "powerful germ killer" claim is a complete joke! You can barely even feel the alcohol when using this product.
- There are a lot of parabens in this product!

I give this product a 2 out of 5. You probably aren't very surprised. The con's outweigh the pro's by a lot for me. I feel like they are very overrated. I know that the PocketBacs' are loved by many people, but i'm just not a fan. I will not be repurchasing these.

Let me know what you think of the PocketBacs from Bath and Body Works in the comment section below! :)

AMAZING INEXPENSIVE LIP GLOSS!

Are you looking for a nice neutral lip gloss that is VERY affordable? Check out the E.L.F. (Eyes Lips Face) Luscious Liquid Lipstick in the shade 'Pink Lemonade'!

the product comes out of these little holes in the doe foot applicator

You can find some of the shades at Target. The whole line can be found on eyeslipsface.com. Each lipstick is only a dollar each.

The Claims?
E.L.F.'s website says that this product has "intensive hydrating agents along with rich pigments that leave lips with long-lasting color and moisture". They also said that this product "creates gorgeous wearable color that flatters a multitude of skin tones and looks."

Pro's:
- amazing price
- easy application (the doe foot applicator fits right in my lip)
- love the packaging (I personally think that it's more sanitary than, for example, a wand with a doe foot applicator. However, i'm aware that a lot of people do not like the click up style of packaging for lip products. )
- it adds a very pretty, glossy shine (as shown in the picture above)
- smooth formula
- comfortable on lips (isn't unbearably sticky or drying. However, I feel like their claim about the product having "hydrating agents" is complete BS. My lips never feel more moisturized after using this product, nor do they feel more dry; it's just neutral.)
- LOVE the shade range (there are twelve individual shades)
- the second sentence of the claim is very true!

Con's
- does not last long, like it claims to (Give it about two hours, maximum, before it starts to fade.)
- a little amount of product in the tube (Granted, I am only paying a dollar for this, but it should still have at least a little bit more product in it. Overall, it lasted me about three months. I was using it on and off with other lip products.)

'Pink Lemonade' is such a beautiful, universally flattering shade! It's perfect to wear with dramatic/night time eye looks. It also looks great with any makeup look! It's one of my all-time favorite lip glosses!

I give this product a 4 out of 5! I knocked it down a point because of some of it's untrue claims and because of it's poor longevity. Overall, I still think that this is an amazing lipstick. I will continue to repurchase it.

Please Note: My Target only had this one shade, so I have only tried this color. I plan on purchasing more shades in the future because I loved 'Pink Lemonade' so much! Comment and let me know if you would like to see swatches and a review on more shades in the line!

Wet n Wild Megalast Nail Polish Review

I always thought that I would never try this brand of nail polish. After trying them out first hand, I can honestly say that I was so wrong about them! Each one retails for $1.99 in your local drugstore.

Pro's:
  • lustrous finish after 1 coat
  • smooth formula
  • amazing price
  • dries quickly
  • LOVE the brush
  • a wide color selection
  • the packaging makes the product look more expensive than it actually is
  • opaque after 2-3 coats (After applying the first coat, it doesn't spread evenly throughout the nail. I recommend applying at least two coats.)
Con's:
  • runny formula (Some people may like this about the nail polish. Personally, I don't like it because you have to be more careful with how much you put onto the brush. I also feel like because they are so thin, it makes the product last for less time.)
  • Despite the name 'megalast', these last for about two-three days without a top coat. Like I said in the last con, I feel like the runny formula is to blame for this. As usual, you could extend the wear with a top coat.

'I Need A Refreshment' is one of my favorite summer colors!

'Under Your Spell' is a dark brown metallic shade with flecks of red in it. It's great for special occasions!

'Disturbia' reminds me of Halloween. Maybe it's the name? Probably. It's a very deep and dark purple. I love to put it on one or two nails and put a brighter polish on the rest of my nails.

'Tropicalia' is one of the more popular colors in the line. It's perfect for summer!

Overall, I give these nail polishes a 4.5 out of 5. I took off a half point because of the misleading name, 'megalast'. However, I am very impressed with everything else. Excellent job, Wet n Wild! You nailed it!

If you guys have any questions, feel free to leave a comment and I will get back to you as soon as possible! :)
